July 29th - Harley Chapter Meeting & Stephanie McM.

Tuesday night July 29th - Dave and I rode our new '08 Harley to the Chapter meeting tonight. Nice ride. We ate before we left the house. The Chapter was serving hotdogs and chips tonight. I just wanted to make sure we had dinner, because most times when Dave and I arrive early, we don't get the chance to eat, as we are officers of the Chapter and people need our time and attention from the moment we arrive.
Considering that 25 of our regular attendees are on their way to Sturgis, SD for the huge 68th annual Bike Rally of Aug 2-9th, we still had a good turnout at the meeting.
It was really great to applaud our friend, Stephanie McM., who just won 3 medals in the Transplant Olympic Games held last month in Pittsburgh, PA. Stephanie competed in the 50 meter freestyle swim - won gold, the 1500 meter walk race - won bronze and the long jump - won bronze. This was Stephanie's 5th time competing at the international event that is held every (2) years. She said there were 5000 people there this year, a combination of transplant recipients and organ donor families. She calls it her ,"every 2 year soul rejuvenation" event.

Stephanie received a liver transplant 18 years ago and she's a remarkable inspiration for me.
