Cascading Deep Purple Petals and Coastal Fog

Between the 7 foot tall, cascading purple lilac in bloom in our neighbor Kari's front yard (which the Swallowtail butterflies are enjoying) and the deep purple petals raining down from the 7 foot tall Princess flower shrub, which is in full bloom in our backyard and the purple Lisanthus flowers blooming in our front flowerbed - the eye catching color in our yards is 'purple' this month. Even the crepe myrtle, which is really in full bloom now, is a deep pinkish/purple color. I like seeing the vibrant purples of the flowers. My purple 'Intrigue' rose is starting to bloom too - big time.
Somehow with the deep purple colors, its seems cooler outside.
I know its a mind trick, but I'll take thinking that its a bit cooler than it is. Actually, it hasn't been too terrible heat wise, as for the last couple of days we've had a deep marine layer roll onshore in the evening and we wake up to fog in the morning that doesn't burn off until almost noon. So our highs have been only hitting 84 or 85 degrees, which is mild for So Cal August temperatures.
