Picked Up Our Harley From Service Repair

Mar 28th Friday - Dave had taken our Harley Ultra over on Tuesday evening to be re-checked after our Sunday ride to Ojai. The ride over to the Dealership was really tough for him, as the bike was really acting up. Sure enough - we had a nail in the rear tire! So, the brand new tire that we had put on a week ago is GONE and had to be replaced. They had tried putting the next size up tire on the rear to improve the ride - that didn't work out, as somehow we didn't end up with enough clearance and the suspension wasn't adjusted correctly for me riding on the back, as it is their policy to return the suspension to the factory setting when they replace the tires and Dave didn't think they had changed the setting when he looked at it before our ride on Sunday - so our 310 mile ride on Sunday was more challenging than it needed to be. When the mechanics test drive it, of course, its just them riding solo, so these issues don't show up. This time, they made sure to check the suspension and made the adjustments for us riding 'two up' and loaded for a trip. The Ultra Classic has a total travel weight limit of 650 lbs, with the special heavy duty shocks that we have on it.
It was good to see Colby, Charles, Jim and Paula over in the service dept. and to say 'hello'. We got the chance to talk directly with the mechanic, Chad who had worked on the bike. The bike was nicely detailed and Jim even noticed that our rear left turn light was burned out and they quickly replaced it before we left the parking lot.
I had gone with Dave to take the bike out for a little test spin, before he rode it home. So through construction on the 5 Fwy north, then over railroad tracks on Beach Blvd and over a couple of serious potholes on Orangethorpe on the way back to the Dealership: much better ride - no more bottoming out over bumps. We thanked Colby, Jim, Charles and Chad for the quick turn around with the service - really appreciate it.
Dave hopped on the bike and I followed him home in the car - 27 miles, smooth ride, no issues and we made it back home before the Friday evening traffic really piled up.
I'm so glad they were able to repair the bike before the weekend, as Dave is riding on the "Road Captains Only Ride" this weekend - a serious riding weekend for him!
