Rode This Morning - Temecula, Fallbrook & Carlsbad

Good morning for a ride. The weather was foggy and moist this morning along the coast, which helped keep us cooler on the bikes. We rode to Temecula, Fallbrook and stopped for lunch in Carlsbad, along the seashore at a very good Mexican restuarant, 'Norte'. Good flautas and carne asada and of course, guacamole.

The ride was actually a 'pre-ride', where we check out the route before the actual Chapter ride which will happen on August 1st. We went today in support of our friend, Wynn, who is leading the ride, his first as a Road Captain. Not surprisingly, Wynn did a good job. We had 17 people on the ride today. The weather was good. The ocean breeze, when we came out of the valley, felt great. We had to divert for a 4th of July parade in Oceanside on Coast Hwy, other than that, we took a lot of back roads, so traffic wasn't an issue. after lunch, we hit a lot of traffic on the 5 Fwy north from just before Camp Pendleton, which meant splitting lanes - which we do cautiously, between the number 1 and the number 2 lanes. We thankfully didn't have very far to travel up the freeway, before we took the Ortega Hwy exit and then Antonio, then jogged over and rode through Live Oak Canyon. The heat from the bike and the mid afternoon air was building - so we waved good-bye to our friends, Doug and Suzanne P., as they stopped at a packed Cook's Corner, wall to wall motorcycles parked out in front.

Arrived home minutes later and immediately stripped off the gear and got cool. Ahhhh,I feel so much better. Its supposed to really be cooking with the heat tomorrow (high 90's in the inland valleys, over 100 in the deserts.)
Several of our friends are riding down to the Midway tomorrow. While I really enjoy taking that tour and visiting San Diego, I think we'll pass on that ride.

Good ride. Good to spend some time with our friends today.
