Election Day - My Mama, the Pollworker
Nov 4th - My Mama is working as a poll worker in her city for the 2008 Presidential General Election. She got a good night's sleep last night and took her vitamins - she anticipates a very busy day. When she volunteered for the primary election, she served as the 'greeter' and found the experience very interesting and rewarding. She told me that this time, they have poll watchers, as well as, high school students, that they are training to be poll workers - passing the torch to the next generation. So, voters, poll watchers, students, translators and the poll workers, including my Mama. She just celebrated her 71st birthday last Saturday and is living an 'active and engaged' retirement.
I'm very proud of her civic volunteerism.
