Heavy Rain on Christmas Day

Dec 25th - After lunch, Dave and I had fallen asleep in our reclining chairs, in the living room and were awakened by the sound of torrential rain and howling wind at about 4:30 pm, as a cloud burst from the passing storm unleashed over us. The wind was driving the cold rain sideways. Visibility was only about a 1/4 mile to the west of us. We turned off all the outdoor electrical Christmas decorations, and before we had fallen asleep, we had brought in both awnings, which was good.
It was definitely weather that kept us inside, where we were warm and dry and protected from the brunt of the storm.
I was grateful that our kids were not driving or outside during that part of the storm - it was a very powerful, fast moving storm cell. Justin & Melissa were at her parents' home. Jeremy had called to say that he was safe at his friend,Chris' family's home, after spending time with his girlfriend Nabaht's family earlier and then with the Lopez family, who are long-time friends from the old neighborhood, who gave him homemade tamales for lunch.Brent & Adriana were safely snuggled in at their apartment together.
Dave and I fixed hot soup and sandwiches for dinner. Even after a nap, we decided to go to sleep early, listening to the sound of the rain on the roof and as it hit against the windows. We slept deeply, very restful. It was a quiet, good and restful Christmas Day spent together.
