Dec 27th - Terrific View to Share with Mama
Dec 27th - Saturday's weather turned out to be just gorgeous. Cool temps kept the air quality good and the visibility we had from our home was crystal clear and panoramic. With Mama at our house to enjoy the view with us, we could see the Pacific Ocean from off Dana Point to the south/southwest of us and the entire top of Catalina Island and heading up the coast, we could see Huntington Beach and the tankers and cargo ships in the harbor at Long Beach and Palos Verdes Peninsula, very clear, due west of us, 60 miles away and then further west/northwest - we could see the mountains of Santa Monica and then the mountains of Santa Barbara, and everything in between. Amazingly clear. The sunset was a vibrant line of oranges and red and then deepening in color and fanning out to the south and the north, as the sun set behind Catalina Island.I pointed out Signal Hill in Long Beach, which is due west of us, 45 miles away, as that is the area that my sister Heather and her family live in. Mama will celebrate and spend the night with us, and then drive on Sunday morning to stay and visit with Heather's family overnight for Christmas. Then she will drive home to Chino Hills on Monday. Quite the adventurer!
