Mockingbird Family
Our neighbor, Marc trimmed his climbing rose and in doing so, removed the nest where a Mockingbird family lived. He left it long enough that the (2) babies could fly and were learning how to fend for themselves. They moved over to our yard - into our fruit trees and grapevines.I have always liked Mockingbirds. I like that they are not easily intimidated. I like their songs.
The young Mockingbirds, while being almost full size, still have that high pitched 'baby bird' chirp. Their parents station themselves on our neighbor's chimney to the south and on the back wall pillar to the north, always watchful.
It has taken awhile for the trees and shrubs of our neighborhood to grow dense enough to support Mockingbirds - our neighborhood is only 14 years old.
